What is Counselling/Psychotherapy?

Counselling/Psychotherapy is a process which offers a non-judgemental and confidential space, in which a client can take some time to explore and understand their thoughts, feelings and behaviours relating to issues past or present that are troubling them.

There are times in all our lives when we experience stress, anxiety, loss or some form of emotional pain. It can be hard to deal with these experiences on our own, and sometimes it can be difficult to talk with those closest to us. Through the process of therapy, we can gain a better understanding of ourselves and how we have come to feel the way we do. For example, why we might keep repeating the same pattern of behaviour, and ending up with ‘another’ bad relationship, or feeling depressed for no apparent reason.

The increased self-knowledge we gain through counselling/psychotherapy can help us to recognize what is best for our own well-being and to develop in how we respond to ourselves, to others and the wider world. Therapy can help us to take charge of our own lives and put us in charge of our own destiny.
